The European Algae Biomass Association (EABA) has paid a heartfelt tribute to Ulrike Schmid-Staiger, recognising her remarkable career and tireless dedication to the algae sector as she steps into retirement.
A central figure in European algae research and innovation, Ulrike has led groundbreaking work as Group Leader at the Fraunhofer Institute for Interfacial Engineering and Biotechnology (IGB) in Stuttgart. There, she headed both the Algae Biotechnology Group and the Technical Microbiology unit, advancing the field with her scientific insight, visionary leadership, and unwavering commitment.
For over a decade, Ulrike has also been a cornerstone of the EABA Scientific Committee. Her contributions have shaped the associationโs strategic direction and helped strengthen its foundations through collaboration, integrity, and scientific excellence.
