A major funding opportunity has been launched for seaweed innovators across Europe. The I3-4-SEAWEED Open Call is now accepting applications until 22 October 2025, aiming to accelerate the growth of the continent’s blue bioeconomy.
Under the programme, 30 selected projects will each receive €60,000 to scale up activities in macroalgae production or develop downstream biotechnology applications. The initiative is targeting SMEs with solutions in areas such as seaweed cultivation, bioprocessing, biostimulants, food and cosmetics, monitoring technologies, and sustainability practices.
“This call is a unique chance to transform innovative ideas into scalable solutions and strengthen Europe’s position in the seaweed value chain,” organisers stated.
Applications are open now at i3-4-seaweed.eu/open-call. Interested companies are encouraged to submit proposals before the deadline to secure funding and support for their projects.
